Mirror in Others: The American Experience of Chinese Contemporary Artists was presented at the Beijing American Center, U.S. Embassy in China, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Bringing together nine Chinese contemporary artists who studied, lived, or worked in the United States, the exhibition explored how artistic identity is shaped through cross-cultural experience and encounters with another society.
Spanning painting, ink, photography, video, and installation, the exhibition invited audiences to reflect on a shared question: when artists encounter the “other,” how do they come to see themselves anew? Rather than seeking perfect translation between cultures, Mirror in Others proposed art as a space where understanding emerges through vision, experience, and the resonance of human life beyond language.
